Welcome to PolicyLector. By accessing or using policylector.com (the "Site"), our books, our newsletter, our Dec Page Analyzer, or any other content, tools, or services we provide (together, the "Services"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
PolicyLector is an insurance education brand. We are not licensed insurance agents, brokers, attorneys, or financial advisors. Nothing on this Site or in our books constitutes professional insurance, legal, tax, or financial advice.
Our content is intended to help you understand insurance concepts, terminology, and your options in plain English. It is not a substitute for personalized advice from a licensed professional who knows your specific situation, your state's regulations, and the carriers available to you. Always consult a licensed insurance professional before making coverage decisions.
The Dec Page Analyzer (when launched) is an automated tool that reads a declarations page and produces an informational summary. The output is generated by software, may contain errors, and is provided for informational purposes only. It is not a quote, a coverage recommendation, a binding statement of your insurance, or professional advice. Always verify any output against your actual policy documents and discuss coverage decisions with a licensed agent.
We do not store the documents you upload after generating your analysis. See our Privacy Policy for details.
You may use the Services for your personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:
All content on the Site — including text, graphics, book covers, logos, layout, and the Decoded Series book content — is owned by PolicyLector or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may share links to our pages and quote short excerpts with attribution. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without written permission.
"PolicyLector" and the Decoded Series titles are trademarks of PolicyLector.
The Services may link to third-party websites, products, or services (such as Amazon for our books). We do not control those third parties and are not responsible for their content, privacy practices, or terms. Your interactions with third parties are governed by their own terms.
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that the information provided is accurate, complete, or current. Insurance regulations change frequently; verify any specific requirement with the relevant state insurance department or a licensed agent.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PolicyLector and its owners, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, savings, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the Services — including any decisions you make about insurance coverage based on our content. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Services will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or one hundred U.S. dollars ($100), whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, in which case the limitations above apply only to the extent permitted.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PolicyLector from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your misuse of the Services or violation of these Terms.
We may modify or discontinue any part of the Services at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which PolicyLector is principally located, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in that jurisdiction.
